Composer SungEun Jo (b.1984) is a prolific composer in South Korea. She earned her Bachelor Degree in Music Composition from ChungAng University, Seoul, South Korea. She has been commissioned by many professional and amateur choirs. Also, Cho is an active clinician as a church music composer. She directed A-I-So-Ri Ensemble (Voice of Children). She is directing Dynamis Choir at JaYang Church in Seoul, South Korea.

 

Currently, Cho is a faculty member of Korea Choral Composition Academy operated by Seoul Chorus Center where her compositions are published. She is a member of Korea Choral Composers’ Association and an executive member of JinJu Female Composers. She is specifically known for her Choral Art Song Compositions based on Korean poems.

 

Her Compositions include sacred compositions such as “십자가 (the Cross),” “은혜 아니면 (Only by the Grace),” “그 사랑(the Love),” secular compositions “가는 길 (the way of leaving),” “고독 (Solitude),” “먼 후일 (A Far Latter Day).” Also, Cho composed many Church Cantatas such as “십자가 (the Cross),” “크리스마스의 별 (the Star of Christmas),” and “한국적 메시아 (Korean Messiah).”
